Gatley Read Partners
Ian Gatley | FCCA
Ian founded the practice in early 1980 and commenced the partnership with David in 1987 following his qualification as a Chartered Certified Accountant. They have grown the practice significantly and currently have 10 staff working from bespoke premises. Ian holds an extensive client portfolio and was admitted as a fellow FCAA in 1991.
David trained with a small firm of accountants before moving on to the audit department of Ernst & Young. David met Ian through a mutual client and the resulting partnership gave the practice a greatly enhanced combination of skills and experience. The partnership has continued to grow and has now been trading in Oldham for 25 years.
Caroline joined Gatley Read as an Audit Senior in January 1998 and she qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2004 after our practice became an ICAEW training office. Caroline manages the day to day operation of the business, staff supervision and customer relationships. In 2008 Caroline was admitted as a Partner of the practice.
Vicky joined Gatley Read in 1996 and completed her AAT training before progressing to qualify as a Chartered Accountant. Vicky became a partner of Gatley Read in 2011 and was appointed as a responsible individual for audit thereafter. Vicky provides clients with a range of services from book keeping to large group statutory audits.
Gatley Read Accountants
Phil joined Gatley Read in March 2018 fulfilling his aspirations to work in practice. He has a wide range of experience having previously worked in industry for a construction firm supporting the Financial Director. He is AAT Level 3 qualified and currently studying towards his Level 4 with aspirations of becoming a Chartered Accountant. Primarily he deals with accounts preparation for a variety of clients including sole traders, partnerships, charities, Limited companies and group subsidiaries.
Tom joined the team in August 2017 following the completion of his AAT level 2. Having enjoyed this course Tom wanted to further develop his skills by working in a practice environment and is now progressing towards his AAT level 3. His general responsibilities include accounts preparation, bookkeeping and VAT along with general administrative duties.
I joined Gatley Read as a Trainee Accountant in July 2015, after successfully completing my AAT Level 3 at The Oldham College. They have given me the opportunity to progress in my chosen career by supporting me in my studies at the final AAT Level 4 alongside which I am gaining valuable work experience. I intend to complete this within the next 12 months and hope to continue to become a Chartered Accountant.
Gatley Read Business Support and Professional Services
Bernadette joined Gatley Read in March 2008, as our dedicated Book Keeper and is responsible for preparing and submitting the VAT returns for many of our clients. Bernadette’s duties also include dealing with our clients CIS returns and producing the deduction statements before submitting them to HMRC online.
Liz joined Gatley Read in 2006 and is our dedicated Payroll Officer responsible for preparing weekly and monthly payroll, processing BACS payments and ensuring HMRC regulation compliance. Liz has over 40 years experience in personnel / payroll and has vast knowledge of SSP, SMP, SAP and minimum wage.
Karen joined Gatley Read in 1999 as an receptionist and administrator, but she has since passed her City and Guilds in Book Keeping, Accounts, and most recently Business and Admin. Karen’s role has expanded over the years to now include credit control and book keeping for one of our larger clients.
I joined Gatley Read in 2017 as I aspired to be an accountant. I joined Gatley Read as a trainee accountant and was given the opportunity to widen my knowledge and was given training working alongside Liz on the payroll team. I have now been offered a full time position on payroll and will continue to broaden my knowledge to help me further my dream of one day becoming a Chartered Accountant.
I joined Gatley Read in July 2017 and am AAT Qualified with a wealth of experience in payroll and accounts. Responsible for preparing and submitting VAT returns and supporting our payroll officer. I am very enthusiastic about my role and always strive to ensure that a job is well done for our clients. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and working with our team for many years to come.
